About Tony:

Born in Edgware, Harrow, London 1949 and emigrated to New Zealand in 1970. Married 45 years to Lorraine and with three daughters. Currently employed as Temperzone Product Manager for Temperzone Limited manufacturer and distributor of Air Conditioning equipment (44 years with company).

A semi-pro Singer/Musician (guitar/keyboard)/Songwriter 1966 – 2014 with bands such as Life's Possession" (UK), "King B" (UK), "Tramp", "Hobson’s Choice", "Silent Partners", "Starlite Express" and the duos "Jokers Wild" and "The Right Stuff".

"Hobson’s Choice" were well known in Maraetai and Beachlands for quite a few years in the late seventies/early eighties. Likewise "Jokers Wild" were well known in Howick/Whitford just a few years ago and played outside the Howick Information Centre a few times at Saturday Fairs.

When young and stupid, initially turned down an offer from Manfred Mann to record one of own songs “Floating On A Rainbow” in 1968 and when finally convinced the error of his ways it was then too late. Recorded once with Albert Hammond, was on the demo of "Make Me An Island" eventually a hit for Joe Dolan.

Wrote a song “Don’t Believe” that was released as a single in 1972 by Tramp that was performed by Tramp on Studio One New Faces same year as Steve Gilpin (Misex) won and Shona Laing appeared. Wrote a song “Looking For Trouble Tonight” that appeared on the Radio Hauraki Homegrown album and was performed solo on the TV programme “Threshold Promotion Company” circa 1980.

Wrote a song “Foolish Heart” that was one of seven finalists in the TV programme “Song For The Pacific” circa 1980 to select a song to enter in the Pacific Song Contest. Came a disappointing sixth.

A vast musical knowledge especially of the sixties, seventies and eighties rock/pop music scene. Attended the last ever Beatles UK concert (not counting the rooftop performance) at Wembley in May 1966 and bought Sgt Peppers the day it came out on Friday June 1st 1967.

Attended the Rolling Stones free Hyde Park concert and the Royal Albert Hall performance of Tommy by the Who all on the same day. Walked over Brian Jones’ grave in Cheltenham UK (by accident). Great fan of artists such as The Beatles, Who, Rolling Stones, Genesis/Phil Collins/Peter Gabriel/Tony Banks et al, Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, Marillion & Fish, Shadows, Queen & Zucchero.

Also great fan of the Goons and Jasper Carrott.

With wife Lorraine managed local Howick/Pakuranga band Plane Jane for two years in the late nineties. A couple of the members now playing in "Tablefox".

Hi - welcome to RRT, Rod's Round Table ... succumb to tasty sounds as the lazy Susan circulates and teases with tempting tunes dished out before you to savour and perhaps devour...from 1930s to Noughties...Swing and Sinatra to Beatles and Bowie, Fleetwood Mac and Fugees to Black Eyed Peas and Beyonce.

With the fun and wicked East FM crew since 2012, I was born with music vibes in my veins, both parents being pianists...my boogie-woogie piano father inspired radio announcing from age 18 on stations in Napier, New Plymouth and Whangarei...followed by both private and hospital radio in Edinburgh, then almost a decade recently teaching English in China - my college students were passionate about music, so we played umpteen songs in class and during breaks - it was intriguing to discover their wide-ranging music tastes. How the Chinese love music and dance...

My mantra is melody...sounds to give your Tuesday afternoons a feel-good fizz...every hour or half hour is themed, varied most weeks so you're unlikely to miss your favourite genres.
An exception is my regular 2-3pm Oo-La La...a whole hour filled with both romantic and spicy love songs....email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and I'll pass a message to your loved one and play the track you request, which we probably have on our mega playlist, during this Love Hour...or the following week.

So reserve your plush leather seat at Rod's Round Table on Tuesdays at noon, soak up the sounds and lose yourself....no jacket required...but make sure to wear your own shoes upon leaving at 4pm, after playing footsie (not required, but highly recommended) ...
