When people ask about John Hanlon I say he’s a wonderful writer of songs about everyday life. An accomplished observer and wordsmith of society and the human condition. We were treated to three hours last night by John playing songs from his 50 years as an award-winning NZ music recording artist and telling the stories behind their creation.
It’s the beginning of John returning to performance stages, and a privilege to have him start out again where it all began for him half a century ago, in Howick.
Thanks to everyone who turned out to support John and making it a sell-out show at The Lounge.
Personally, I’m very pleased and proud of the publicity I produced for this event co-produced by EAST FM 88.1 107.1 and The Lounge.
A big thanks to Tony King of East FM, and to Ali Jax and Linda Jackson of The Lounge for making this a very special night in the month Howick is celebrating its 175th anniversary. – PJ
