Justin Devereux is an adventurous Kiwi living in Los Angeles and releasing his music to the world for the first time over the past year, recording with big-name session musicians and producer.

We were excited to host him in the studio of his Howick hometown radio station, East FM, in March. As you’ll hear, we played his recordings and he played live, too.

PJ last talked live with Justin on She’ll Be Right in August 2023, upon the release of his single, Cotton Wool. Since then he’s put out other tracks, Coming to a Town near You, and Sugar Baby.

While Justin was back in NZ, he was part of The Bridge, a showcase of singer-songwriters Davey Jo South, Steve Edwards, and JD, celebrating the art of songwriting. It was staged in the intimate setting of Uxbridge Theatre in Howick.

Davey Jo, Steve and Justin talked about the stories behind their original songs, new and old, and their creative writing processes. They also played live.

All three are at different stages in recording their works and releasing them publicaly, but one thing is clear that they have in common – they’re always song writing.

Raising money for Music Helps, who believe in the power of music to help and heal, the musicians hope they might assist others find and explore the joy in the music they make and share.
