From farming to topping global music charts and having his songs streamed more than 30 million times, it has been quite a ride for Merv Pinny over the past few years.
Northland-based Pinny is on tour through the North Island, in preparation for his new album due next year. Two singles are being released during the tour, including How to Say Goodbye, out on November 24.
Largely seen as an alternative rock artist, but with his unique style of songwriting, he expertly blends rock, blues, soul, and modern country into his music and energetic live shows.
After his song O.B – Can You Hear The Children Cry went viral on Facebook in 2016, his page has reached more than 80 million people, and his music has been streamed more than 30 million times, charting in Brazil, Canada, the United States, Europe, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Norway, and Ukraine. In 2020, he had his first global hit making the Amazon world music charts with Amazing.
Pinny has also just had two of his original tracks nominated in the Nashville International Songwriting Competition.
